Since you did such a fantastic job with your last news reports, I am sure you will produce even better reports this time around. Do you remember the reflections we made on things you did well and things you need to improve on? Don't forget them - they are important reflections that will help you keep improving your news reporting skills.
TODAY:
11:30am. Click on this link to fill out an online reflection. Think about those awesome news reports you produced last term.
Reflection Form
11:50. Check out the 'What Are Your Great Ideas For Our SFOA News TV' blog post below - read through some of the comments; add any new ideas.
12:00. Get into groups of approximately 5 people - don't leave anybody out! Decide which news story you would like to report on today.
12:05. As a group, decide who will be the PRODUCER. The producer needs to turn their laptop on and open this Proposal Form (only the producer needs to fill it out). Please work TOGETHER as a group to fill out all sections of the form.
You will need to work with your scriptwriters and reporters to work on some interview questions and scripts for the anchorman. Don't forget to write OPEN questions questions that encourage more than a one word answer (ie. "Do you like doing Science" = a CLOSED question as the answer is likely to only be yes or no. "Tell me a bit about your Science Passion Project" = OPEN question as the answer is likely to be a few interesting sentences). I suggest you copy and paste your interview questions etc into a word document BEFORE you submit your proposal form so you don't lose them when you submit the form.
LUNCHTIME
1:55. When your scripts are ready, rehearse (reporters and anchormen), then begin filming with a flip camera.
2:55. Upload all footage from your flip camera to the EDITOR'S laptop. Begin editing (time permitting).
3:15. Pack up - please place ALL flip cameras back in their cases. Next week we will finish editing and upload your new news reports.
